Readings: Tisha b’Av (9th of Av)

Tisha b’Av mourns the destruction of the First and Second Temples and other Jewish tragedies, observed with fasting and prayer. For believers in Yeshua (Jesus) as the Messiah and the “Word (of God) made flesh,” He brings to fullness the pattern of the Temple’s role as a pattern of Heaven. Believers are “temples of the Holy Spirit” and “living stones,” forming a spiritual house. Prophetic hopes of Temple restoration and Ezekiel’s ark-less temple point to Yeshua, culminating in the New Jerusalem, where God and the Lamb are the temple.

Children: Heaven’s strategy for kingdom expansion (Genesis 29–30)

Children are a divine blessing and essential to God’s covenant. In this study, we zeroed in on the bigger lessons from the sibling rivalries in Genesis, focusing on Leah and Rachel’s struggle to bear children (Genesis 29–30). Contrary to a frequent refrain on social media, children aren’t an inconvenience, but a sacred trust for passing faith between generations. Modern society is slowly recognizing children’s importance as birth rates plummet to civilization-ending levels. Scripture reveals the crucial role parents play in teaching God’s words and modeling trust across generations.

Sukkot: A reminder of Heaven's extreme makeover of our lives

In the First Commandment, God says, “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery” (Ex. 20:2). As ancient Israel fled from Egypt and travelled to the Promised Land, they lived in booths, or סֻכֹּת sukkot in Hebrew. They weren’t supposed to live in these temporary shelters for 40 years in the wilderness. It was only because of their disobedience that they had to live that way for so long.

This study explores a key lesson of Sukkot (Festival of Tabernacles): We should be orienting ourselves towards God, not expecting Him to orient Himself toward us. 

It’s crucial for us to understand God’s character, to submit to His timing and molding us into His image — revealed through Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus) — so that we will be a suitable people for God to dwell with for all time.

The prophet Yokhanan (John the Baptizer) said of Yeshua (Jesus), “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”(John 1:29 NASB 1995). This study explores Hebrews 1–10, a thorough explanation of what Heaven is teaching and reminding us about in יוֹם הַכִּפֻּרִים Yom haKippurim (Yom Kippur, Day of Atonement), that it is an annual memorial of Yeshua as the ultimate high priest of Heaven to take away our guilt and allow us to go confidently to God.

1st Kings 7:13-22: Prophecy of the two temple pillars

Like with the previous passages on the design of the temple and Solomon’s palace, the design of the two pillars at the entrance of the temple reveals the prophecy by Ezekiel’s lying on one side and the other. Solomon was prophesying the number of years the temple would stand before being destroyed.

In the vision Yekhezqel (Ezekiel) had of a temple, he watches a man measuring the temple. In the vision apostle Yokhanan (John) had of a temple, recorded in Revelation, God tells him to measure the temple. Was Yekhezqel watching Yokhanan measuring the temple? Did God give allow Yekhezqel to see someone who was born 600-plus years after him?
