Matthew 24; Luke 17: ‘Days of Noah’ teach us how to be ‘born again’

“‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. … That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.'” (John 3:3, 6 NASB)

The Torah reading Noakh, covering Genesis 6:9–11:32, is a testimony of the origin of Abraham and Israel, of different people groups and of languages. This is real history, not legend or allegory. That is important, because it’s a testimony about the intentions and actions of the Creator.

And the “days of Noah” (Matt. 24:36–44; Luke 17:22–37) teach us how we become “born again” via the Mashiakh (Christ) of God.

Hearing God’s trumpeted messages via Yom Teruah (Feast of Trumpets)

The lesson of the Feast of Trumpets is a clarion call to Messiah Yeshua. We, as believers in Yeshua, are waiting to hear and respond to a certain trumpet sound, the last trumpet sound. That is what we wait for.

The Messiah says the last trumpet will be great, powerful sound. There is hope for us that we can rejoice that He is showing us and teaching us that He is the resurrection and the life. We live in the hope that He will restore Israel to her former glory and, according to the book of Acts, He will restore the Gentiles who have joined the House of Ya’akob (Jacob) too.

Luke 17:20-37: The Scandalous Verses, part 2: Israel must purge its pride and put it upon the Messiah

Many look to the apocalyptic Matthew 24, also touched on in Luke 17:20-37, for signs of the “end times.” But the context in both books suggests the real message is a call for Israel to purge itself of pride in anything other than God and offload that rebellion upon the Messiah.

In the modern world we are living in, there are certain things that Messiah said that are targeted to us and our time.

Matthew 24 — ‘appointed times’ provide a roadmap for the end of time

Sometimes we have an idea that the only purpose of prophesy is to predict the future. God is telling us, through a human agent, what He is doing. The true prophet is not guessing or extrapolating from context, he is simply stating a fact. Matthew 24, Revelation 6 and Revelation 12 show us how the “appointed times” are a roadmap for the end of time.
