Appointments With God Tabernacles

Sukkot — a feast full of faith

Day 1 — The Feast of Tabernacles, or Sukkot, is the third of the special appointments with God in His seventh month. With so much exactness on what is to be offered to God and when, it may surprise you how central faith is in the celebration.

Food for thought from the recorded discussion

How many “holy convocations” or "high days" do we have in the seventh month on God’s calendar (Lev. 23:23-44)? Why is the first day of Sukkot a "high day"? What two events rest at the center of the Festival of Sukkot?

Is God a "terrorist," in the strictest definition of the word?

What are the three “weightier matters of the Torah,” according to Yeshua (Matt. 23:23)? How do these matters fit into the fall feasts of Yah?

How does faith fit into the events of Sukkot? How does faith inspire your actions during Sukkot?

What is the "calling" associated with Sukkot, as symbolized with the beckoning-waving of the lulav (the four species of plants)?

What’s removed during the Day of Atonement? What is the “new beginning” to come for the entire world? Who will respond? Will all the nations respond favorably to God’s calling?

Why does God require the sacrifice of so many animals during Sukkot? What do the animals symbolize?

Num. 7:1-9 — What was brought in? Who brought these items? Who received the wagons and other items? Which group was not allowed to use animals to carry their burden? Why couldn’t they use the animals to carry their burdens? How does this relate to the Messiah?

Numbers 7:10-14 — What still needed to be sanctified? How long did it take to sanctify the altar? How does this relate to us as believers? What tribes brought offerings? In what order did the tribes present their offerings?

What is a meal offering? How is it measured? What is in this type of offering?

Numbers 7:15-83 — How long did these sacrifices last? Were the gifts given by individual leaders or were they presented on behalf of the entire tribe? Did the tribes provide different gifts based on their unique characteristics? How many tribes presented an offering each day?

Numbers 7:84-87 — What is a ‘olah, or burnt, offering? Was this a cheap offering? Did the person offering the animal receive any benefit from the offering?

What is the shalom, or peace, offering? What does it mean? What is a sin, or khet, offering? What do you give for a sin offering? How many animals are presented for a sin offering? What kind of animal is used for a sin offering?

What benefit did the people receive from making sure the altar was sanctified? How many times did the altar have to be sanctified?

What is our job as believers right now? What knowledge will God give us at that time?

Num. 29:1 — What month does this chapter discuss? Who is the audience of the prophets: the world or the believers? Who is addressed first?

Num. 29:12,17,23,26,29 — What happens on the 15th day of the seventh month? How long is this feast? What kind of sacrifices were presented at this time? Why does the offering of the bullocks decreased each day? How many bullocks total were offered during Sukkot?

What does the number 70 mean? Where do we first find mention of the 70 nations of the world beside Israel?
