The goal is to have a meeting agenda out a week before, so you can pray over the items. The Zoom meeting link and call-in details are the same as those used for the weekly Bible study (see the About Us tab on the Hallel smartphone app). Rosh Chodesh (New Moon): 6th month online services
    Sunday, August 24, 2025
    7:00 pm–8:00 pm
The LORD's appointed times are based from the beginning of each lunar month. Learn more about the biblical basis for the monthly reminder of the New Moon. Hallel Fellowship gathers for a time of Scripture and prayer at the beginning of each Hebrew month. Month of forgiveness: A tradition calls for the sixth month (aka Elul) to start a 40-day period of teshuvah (repentance/turn) leading up to Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement). This can be a time of reflection and seeking reconciliation for wrongs not forgiven. Recent tradition calls for reading Psalm 27 daily and reflection on the 13 attributes of Adonai in Exodus 34:6-7 in the last week. Learn more about Rosh Chodesh: https://hallel.info/newmoon
    Jesus Cares 2020 Ministries fundraiser
    Friday, August 29, 2025
    3:00 pm–7:00 pm
Closed since March 2024, the former St. Vincent de Paul Community Kitchen is set to reopen under operation of Jesus Cares 2020 Ministries. Led by Sam Ojebola, the nonprofit had run the kitchen for two and a half years before the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Sonoma County closed the facility after six decades in an effort to sell the building. The Sonoma County health department in late July said the kitchen could prepare meals for distribution to those experiencing homelessness and people in need. That was a crucial step in the reopening. This fundraiser seeks to fill in the remaining funds needed to make the reopening a success.

    This week’s Torah reading

    • Set the captives free: The Bible’s real message on slavery & redemption (Exodus 21–22; Jeremiah 34)
The Bible’s laws about slavery can be troubling, but they reveal something deeper: Even within ancient realities, God’s instructions are aimed to bring dignity, protection, and a pathway to freedom for everyone — Israelites and outsiders alike. In Exodus 21-22, Jeremiah 34 and similar passages, we see that Scripture moves toward greater justice, mercy and inclusion. Ultimately, all these hopes find their fulfillment in the Messiah, Who opens the door to true freedom for every person and nation, showing God’s heart to set all captives free and welcome all into His family.
