God commands His people to observe the seventh and last day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread with a “holy convocation.” The day has connections to Israel’s crossing of the Red Sea after the Exodus and baptism in the name of Messiah Yeshua.
Food for thought from the recorded discussion
What kind of signs are in the Feast of Unleavened Bread? How does someone become “puffed up,” like dough with yeast or other leaven in it?
Ex. 13:1 — Who was supposed to sanctify the firstborn, God or Moses? Notice the second verse (Ex. 13:2) starts a totally different topic.
What is the Hebrew word translated as sanctify in this text (qadash, Strong’s lexicon No. 6942)? Why do we participate in the days of Unleavened of Bread? What is sincerity? How can you be a member of God’s family if you don’t know what you are supposed to do? What does Paul tell us to do in regards to the Unleavened Bread?
Verses related to firstborn (Gen 10:15; Gen. 25:11-13; Gen. 27:19; Gen. 35:23; Gen. 36:15; Gen. 41:51; Gen. 44:33; Gen. 49:3) — What does the term firstborn mean? Does it apply only to humans and animals? How does it applies to trees as well? Why isn’t Isaac referred to as the firstborn? What is the first born supposed to represent? How is a firstborn supposed to act?
Exodus 13 — Is partaking of the word of God sweet or bitter or both? How did Egypt suffer after the death of their firstborn males? How did the people travel so far so quickly during their flight from Egypt?
Exodus 14 — Did the people make bread during their flight from Egypt? What does the leaven represent? What choices did the people have when they were between the Egyptian army and the sea? How does our experience with God compare with what the Israelites experienced when they fled Egypt? What did they leave behind? What do we have to leave behind? Why did the Angel of the LORD move from their front to their rear? What does the east wind represent in the Bible?
1st Cor. 10:1-3 — Are the days of Unleavened Bread about the world, the nations? How are we drawn to keep and celebrate God’s holy days? What does the cloud represent? What does the sea represent? How do we become sanctified? What is the “church”? Why did God give us Yeshua? Is the “path of Yeshua” broad, wise and easy?
Rom. 6:1-14 — What is baptism? Is is reversible? Is it something that can be repeated? Is this a physical baptism or spiritual baptism? Whose death do we enter at baptism? What happened when Yeshua died?
