Appointments With God Discussions Passover

Passover is about the Lamb Who was pierced

Passover is an annual memorial of the LORD’s deliverance of Israel from bondage, but the focus is the lamb and Who the lamb represents: He Who was pierced to give us freedom and a new life in communion with God.

Food for thought from the recorded discussion

Zechariah 12 — When will this happen? Passover is not just about Moses, Egypt and slavery. Passover’s primary focus is the Messiah and that focus will become more and more obvious as the end of time comes closer. The Passover began with Moses but the ultimate fulfillment is Messiah. Why is the piercing of the Messiah compared to “the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the plain of Megiddo”? Whose death caused the mourning mentioned by Zechariah?

2nd Kings 23:21-23; 2nd Chron. 35:1-19 — Who was this king? What did Josiah do? What did he establish or re-establish?

2nd Chron. 35:20-27 — Which prophet was a contemporary of King Josiah?

Psalm 22 — Why is this Psalm important?

Psalm 24 — What are “clean hands”? What are pure hearts? Who pierced the Messiah?

John 19 — Why did the Jewish authorities want Pilate to crucify Yeshua? Why did this comment put fear into Pilate’s heart? What day was Yeshua crucified? What piercing killed Yeshua? The piercing of the soldier or the piercing of the crucifixion?

John 15:1-11 — When did Yeshua present this teaching? How does Yeshua make His people “clean”? How does God prune branches on His True Vine? What happens to the grapes after they are gathered? What happened to the vine Yeshua spoken of here? What did God do with that vine?
