Food for thought from the recorded discussion

What does the name Abram mean (Strong’s lexicon No. 0087)? Who elevated Abram’s status? How is Abram “the father of the faithful” (Rom. 4:9-15)? Did Abram’s parents give him the name “Exalted Father” by which he is known in the Bible?

What “great nation” did God promise to Abram? What does it mean that God would curse those who curse Abram?

What did Abram take with him when he left Haran? Where did Abram first stop when he arrive in Canaan?

Gen. 12:7 tells us that God appeared to Abram. God didn’t simply speak with Abram. What did God say when He appeared to Abram? How did Abram respond to this appearance?

What other places did Abram see in the land?

Were the names Shechem, Bethel and Ai contemporary to Abram?

What happened when Abram went south? Why did Abram move? Where did he go?

What did Abram say to Sarai before they arrived in Egypt (Gen. 12:11-13)? Was Abram afraid? Why?

Was Egypt a country steeped in paganism at this time? Did they know of the true God?

Why did God put a plague on Pharaoh’s house? Was it a disease, calamity or pestilence (see Strong’s 5060 and 5061)? What is the “touch of God”? How did the Pharaoh figure out what happened?

How did Abram deal with his fear? Who had more fear of God at this point, Abram or Pharaoh? Why didn’t the Pharaoh take back the gifts he gave Abram?
