This is a gathering of people in the Santa Rosa area of Sonoma County, in the north San Francisco Bay area of California, who believe that Yeshua of Natzeret (Jesus of Nazareth) is the Anointed One (Christ or Messiah) of the Creator, the God of Israel from long ago. As a \"messianic\" fellowship, we seek to learn together about God from His word, the Bible, via the many lessons encapsulated in the first five books of the Bible and explained by the prophets and the Messiah.

The people of Israel arrive at the edge of the Red Sea. They have walked day and night for 7 days to reach this point. As they set their eyes on the Red Sea in front of them, they see the Egyptians coming behind. God has one last “elohim” of Egypt to judge before he takes the Israelites away from Egypt for good. After a temporary lack of faith, God guides them through the water and they walk in “martial array” to the other side. The Egyptians, blindly follow them in and God creates havoc and it is the Egyptians who start to panic just before the sea swallows them whole. They are never a threat to Israel again. As the people of Israel are ready to leave Egypt for good, they have little idea of the epic journey has in store for them. As we read the story of Yeshua’s life in the New Testament, we have the same benefit and “curse” of hindsight as we read about the last few weeks of his life. We tend to be a little judgmental towards His favorite disciples because of they lacked a true understanding of Yeshua’s mission until after His death and resurrection.
One common smear against God in recent times is that He is “an absentee landlord” or “a blind watchmaker” Who may have set everything in motion but now doesn’t care or doesn’t get involved. Many then blame Him for the evil and suffering that goes on in the world, particularly to those who it appears to us don’t deserve it, such as a dying family member or a starving child. A common slight against the book of Esther is that it doesn't directly mention the name of the LORD, as the other books of the Bible do. However, the clear totality of the account is that He is very much at work in making evil plans turn back upon themselves to bring the promise of a blessing for the whole world — Messiah — through Abraham's descendants. This would happen, even when the promise seemed to have been abandoned along with the people of Israel in Persia. One of the great last messages to the whole world is to “worship Him Who made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters.” Yet today, most children are learning — in school and/or from popular culture — to doubt God because His people are increasingly more afraid of appearing intellectually backward by accepting His testimony of being the Creator than being strong and standing by the only testimony that makes intellectualism possible.
The fall appointed times of God are called the "feasts of ingathering" and are associated with the apocalyptic Day of the LORD. What are the lessons of these festivals that point toward our preparation for what Messiah is going to do? In part two of a discussion of the seventh month of God's calendar, Richard looks into the parallel between the construction of Solomon's Temple in time for one Sukkot (Tabernacles) and the preparation of God's people for the final Sukkot. Like the stones for the first temple that were cut to size elsewhere then moved into location, the people of God will be "trimmed" to the right "size" before being moved to the final site of the LORD's dwelling place on Earth.
Yom haKippurim (the Day of Coverings/Atonement) is seen as a time of self-reflection. Yes, in Leviticus 16 God teaches that one is to "afflict your souls," which is taken to be a call for a fast, as seen in Isaiah 58. However, the apostolic letter to the Hebrews shows that the day is about reflection on the High Priest Who atoned God's people once and for all time with His own blood.
Many associate the Feast of Trumpets with shofars, or trumpets made from horns. However, the LORD calls for two silver trumpets on this special day. Rather than a warning or battle call, as is associated with the shofar, this is a "loud sound," or teruah, of joy. How is this joy associated with the Day of the LORD and the coming of Messiah, which are described in the Bible as a fearsome time?
